Dominican Republic’s Natalia Paola Cuello Selected as First International Referee for 2027 USBasket Champions League

The USBasket Champions League has announced the selection of Dominican Republic referee Natalia Paola Cuello to its officiating staff for the 2027 tournament in Columbus, Georgia.

Cuello becomes the first international FIBA referee selected by the Trinity United board for the USBasket Champions League, marking another step in the organization’s effort to build an international basketball event featuring participants from different countries and basketball systems.

The Dominican official brings extensive experience to the tournament and currently serves as President of the National Referees Association of the Dominican Republic. Cuello has officiated in several of the country’s prominent basketball competitions, including the LNB, Santiago League and TBS.

Her selection follows another international addition to the 2027 event. Last week, Jamaica Elite1 was announced as the first international team selected for the competition. With Cuello now joining the officiating staff, the Champions League has added its first international referee.

“We want this event to represent international basketball at every level,” said Trinity United CEO Jermaine Barnes. “That means not only bringing in teams and players from different countries, but also coaches, referees and basketball professionals who represent different cultures and experiences. Paola brings tremendous experience from the Dominican Republic, and we are proud to have her as our first international official.”

The USBasket Champions League is designed to combine high-level basketball competition with international cultural exchange and community engagement. The annual event will bring together clubs and basketball professionals from the United States and international markets.

The 2027 USBasket Champions League is scheduled for July 9-14, 2027, in Columbus, Georgia.
