JAMAICA ELITE 1 IS COMING TO UCL2K27!

The 2027 USBasket Champions League officially welcomes JAMAICA ELITE 1 to Columbus, Georgia!

Led by Wayne Dawkins, Jamaica Elite 1 represents the next chapter of a basketball movement built through P.H.A.S.E. 1 Academy / P.H.A.S.E. 1 Global and the former Elite1 Caribbean Basketball League.

For Dawkins, the mission goes beyond winning games.

Jamaica Elite 1 will bring together experienced Jamaican professionals and homegrown players developed on the island, creating a pathway for the next generation of Jamaican talent to compete, develop and gain exposure on an international stage.

Wayne Dawkins:
“We built a development system and a professional league on the same island. The Champions League is the ceiling those players have been climbing toward. A kid in Jamaica can now see the whole road youth, pro, and an international floor at the end of it.”

And Jamaica Elite 1 is already adding serious experience to its UCL2K27 roster.

Akeem Ellis (199-F-1990, college: Coppin St.)
Former Coppin State University NCAA Division I standout Akeem Ellis is one of the first major veteran additions to Jamaica Elite 1.

Following his collegiate career, Ellis began an extensive professional journey that has taken him around the world. He spent time competing in the NBA G League market before establishing himself internationally.

Ellis has competed professionally in the United Kingdom, France, Chile, Uruguay, Canada, Colombia, Venezuela and Indonesia, gaining experience against different levels and styles of basketball across multiple continents.

He has also represented Jamaica internationally, adding National Team experience to an already extensive professional résumé.
That experience is exactly what Jamaica Elite 1 wants surrounding its younger players.

Ellis brings size, versatility, veteran leadership and international experience to a roster that will combine established professionals with talented players developed in Jamaica.

For the homegrown players who earn an opportunity with Jamaica Elite 1, playing alongside veterans such as Ellis will provide another important step in their development and exposure.

And this is only the beginning.
