A New Era of Professional Club Basketball Begins in North America
COLUMBUS, Georgia — Trinity United, LLC is proud to officially announce the creation of the USBasket Champions League (UCL), a new international club competition designed to unite the top professional basketball organizations from across the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
Inspired by the success and competitive format of Europe's Basketball Champions League, the USBasket Champions League will provide a true continental championship where elite clubs compete for the title of North American Champion.
The event has received the approval of Eurobasket.com, one of the world's leading basketball media organizations, and represents a significant step forward in creating meaningful international competition for professional clubs outside of the NBA.
A Championship for Professional Clubs
For decades, basketball fans have watched Europe's top clubs compete against one another in prestigious international tournaments. Until now, North America's independent professional clubs have never had a true annual championship dedicated to determining the region's best organization.
The USBasket Champions League changes that.
Rather than being an all-star event or showcase, the UCL is a competition between established clubs that have built winning cultures within their own leagues and communities. Every participating team will represent its organization, its city, and its country while competing for the USBasket Champions League trophy.
Tournament Format
The inaugural USBasket Champions League will feature eight clubs representing four different regions.
Participating Clubs
- Five clubs from the United States
- One club from Canada
- One club from Mexico
- One club from the Caribbean
Each organization will receive an official invitation based on its competitive success, professionalism, organizational stability, and commitment to growing the game.
Group Stage
The eight qualified clubs will be divided into two groups of four teams.
Each team will play every club within its group during the opening stage of the tournament.
At the conclusion of group play, the clubs with the best records will advance to the championship round.
This format rewards consistency while guaranteeing multiple international games for every participating organization.
Championship Round
The winner of each group will advance to the USBasket Champions League Final.
The championship game will determine the first-ever USBasket Champions League Champion and crown the top professional club in North America.
More Than a Tournament
The USBasket Champions League has been designed to become much more than a week of basketball.
The event will create opportunities for:
- International club competition
- Player exposure
- Coach networking
- Professional scouting
- Media coverage
- Corporate partnerships
- Global basketball collaboration
Games will be streamed internationally, allowing fans throughout North America, Latin America, and Europe to follow the competition.
Building Toward the Future
The USBasket Champions League has been created with long-term growth in mind.
Future editions are expected to expand participation while strengthening relationships with basketball organizations throughout the Americas. As the event continues to develop, Trinity United, LLC intends to build one of the world's premier international club competitions.
The vision is simple:
To give professional clubs a championship worthy of the players, coaches, owners, and communities they represent.
Leadership
The USBasket Champions League is a project created by Trinity United, LLC in partnership with respected leaders throughout the international basketball community.
Former NBA Coach of the Year and NBA television analyst Sam Mitchell serves as a key ambassador and advisor for the league's development, while additional basketball executives, coaches, and international partners continue to join the initiative.
